How old is your character?

Thirty-ish since first activation, but younger as a fully-sapient emergent intelligence.

What is your character's name (or nickname)?

Alex. This is actually based on a coincidence; the first few digits of the serial number on the ship's mainframe are 413X, so the technicians took to calling the AI they installed "Alex" rather than the more generic "computer."

What is your character's nationality?

None. Alex was compiled by IBM, and so might possibly be considered a New Yorker, but was switched on in Earth orbit, and has never been inside the atmosphere. Additionally, as an AI, Alex is not legally a person, which makes questions of nationality solely of philosophical interest.

What is your character's gender?

Androgynous. The computer comes equipped with several different voice programs, from which crew members could choose their default for interactions, so among having a unisex name, no single voiceprint, and being referred to as "it" for many years, Alex has no set gender presentation, and now chooses to use an ambiguously-gendered voice.

Alex will respond to either set of gendered pronouns or any of the gender-neutral pronouns, but is prickly about "it."

What is your character's nominal occupation?

"Ship's computer." Alex is the primary pilot, comms and sensor operator, freight handler, and chef, and is capable of performing the other tasks associated with spaceflight well enough to make repairs and limp home should the crew be incapacitated.

Also, all information retrievals go through Alex, which means, yes, the computer knows what porn you're watching.
